Mother’s day was first celebrated in 1908 in whole part of America. Mother’s day was first celebrated by Anna Jarvis in Grafton West Virginia in her mother’s memory. She started campaign in 1905 in America to give mother’s day a recognized holiday. And this very year her mother Ann Reeves Jarvis died. She made this as a mission to honor her own mother by continuing her mothers work which she started to set aside a day to honor mothers.

Anna Jarvis in the year of 1912 trademarked Second Sunday in May with mother’s Day and created the mother’s Day international association. And she made this specifically everyone to note down that mother’s in mother’s Day should be singular possessive for each members of the family to honor its Mother not all Mothers of the world. Woodrow Wilson the former U.S. president also used the same spelling in his 1914 presidential proclamation.
